THE SEARCH IS ON...
THE MELBOURNE PRODUCTION OF MISS SAIGON IS LOOKING FOR A "TAM" OR TWO!

Michael Coppel & Louise Withers and Associates are presenting Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schönberg’s
MISS SAIGON at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne from March 17,
and need to find specific children to play the pivotal role of ‘Tam’.

‘Tam’ is the child of ‘Kim’, the Vietnamese heroine of MISS SAIGON. From his first appearance in the story, ‘Tam’ is a central character, the catalyst that sets in motion a chain of events leading to the tragic and heartrending climax of this powerful and emotional story.

Audiences around the world have been moved by Kim’s passionate declaration to her son,  “As long as you have your chance, I swear I’ll give my life for you.”

The production requires Asian or Eurasian boys or girls aged from four up to seven years of age with dark eyes and hair, no more than 95cm tall. ‘Tam’ is a non-speaking role, so verbal skills are not a requirement.

Several children will be required to play the role during the show’s Melbourne season at Her Majesty’s Theatre. The children need to be bright and enthusiastic and be capable of confidently going on stage and engaging the audience. If a female is cast she will need to be prepared to cut her hair.

Auditions will be held on Saturday 3rd February at 2.00pm at The Space, corner of Chapel and Carlton Streets, Prahran.

Anyone who thinks their child would be suitable, please email enclosing contact details and a photograph of your child wearing everyday clothing and no make-up to Lynne Ruthven Casting: on ruthven@bigpond.net.au or for further information contact Lynne on 0419 679 046.

Set in 1975 during the final days leading up to the American evacuation of Saigon, MISS SAIGON is an epic love story about the relationship between an American GI and a young Vietnamese woman.

The new production of MISS SAIGON will be one of the largest touring musicals in Australia, with a company of over 50 actors and musicians.

Eighteen years ago Cameron Mackintosh premiered Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's epic musical MISS SAIGON at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane and overnight it became a legend, running in London and on Broadway for over 10 years and in major capital cities around the world, becoming one of the most successful musicals in modern history.
