30 July 2007 PRODUCERS OF MISS SAIGON AUSTRALIA TO HOLD AUDITIONS TO FIND CHILDREN TO PLAY THE ROLE OF 'TAM' IN THE SYDNEY PRODUCTIONThe long awaited, critically acclaimed musical love story of the century, MISS SAIGON, is set to play Sydney from September 20 and the search is on for local children to play the role of Tam. Tam is the child of Kim, the Vietnamese heroine of MISS SAIGON. Tam is a central character in the story, the catalyst that sets in motion a chain of events leading to the tragic and heartrending climax of this powerful and emotional story. Audiences around the world have been moved by Kim’s passionate declaration to her son, “As long as you have your chance, I swear I’ll give my life for you.” The production requires Asian/Eurasian boys or girls aged between four and five with dark eyes and hair, no more than 100cm tall. Several children will be required to play the role during the show’s run at the Lyric Theatre. The children need to be bright and enthusiastic. An epic tale about the relationship between an American GI and a young Vietnamese woman set during the final days of the U.S. occupation of Saigon, MISS SAIGON is one of the most successful musicals in the world - seen-to-date by over 33 million people in over 25 countries, performed in 12 different languages and winning 30 international awards.
